Tuesday at St. Vincent

Here we are on the camp grounds on the island of St. Vincent. Buzz is right here beside me making sure I get this right. This is the main dorm, there are other facilities within walking distance, others have chosen hotels farther away from the grounds. To the left is the building where we have the meetings and food services.

People congregate here to visit and wait for meetings to begin; ten in the morning and seven in the evening.  There are activities for the children and young people in the afternoon and today a group of adults went to a seniors centre to visit with the people there. The young people played a game of cricket which is the islanders favourite sport.

This is at the back of the building where we are served and seated. There are three meals served every day for those who need food services plus a canteen for afternoon and evening treats.

The theme of the camp is: The Best is Yet to Come

The children are well behaved but eager to be fed.

All the children seem to have a ready smile.

Well, almost all of them.

Even the locals seek out a spot of shade. It was 30C at nine this morning and  progressed from there. There was another downpour this afternoon.

Buzz and Woody are eager to eat too especially because the little boy next to us played with Buzz and Woody for over an hour. They're spent! Avocado is beside Buzz and they are huge! Behind him chicken, and going clockwise, pasta, lettuce, okra, plantain and in the off centre roasted breadfruit. We haven't seen any deserts, table knives or serviettes, also known as napkins to our USA grandsons.

The vegetation is lush and varied. Sorry, Buzz doesn't know what the flowering tree is.

Felicity is fond of the goats

The young man wants to play ball. Go help him out Woody and Buzz.

Buzz and Woody have encountered an almond from the almond tree on the premises. If I had had a knife I would have tried to dissect it for an on the spot science class.
